Oulton Park International

Valuable experience

Having not raced on the Oulton park international track since 2010 I was hesitant going in to the weekend, with my competition having tested prior to the event. Once Friday practice was out the way I felt far more confident gaining valuable experience in the wet and dry conditions, which I would later find to be invaluable.

Serious damage

Saturday morning began with a wet practice session wherever other competitor became cautious due to the close and confined nature of the circuit where leaving the track would cause serious damage. Using my experience from Fridays test I went fastest overall in the whole session above the GT3 cars that were present.

2 wins, 2 fastest laps

When qualifying came again it was also damp, I was able to get excellent track position and put in a time good enough for 3rd overall, 6 places ahead of my nearest rival. Race 1 began with a hectic start with a crash directly ahead of me, which I was lucky to avoid, however I was able to get through and lead the race for three laps until that faster GTO cars caught and passed me. The same went for race 2 but the incident was behind causing the race to be red flagged for 20 minutes. Once the race restarted I maintained the class lead and finished the weekend with two wins and two fastest laps.
