BMW Z4 GT3 test

Controls, pedal position

The morning began by meeting the Barwell Motorsport team and getting in the car familiarising my self with the controls and getting the pedal position correct, so that I was as comfortable as possible. The test was split up in to one 10 lap run and one 15 lap run to enable me to look through data in-between the runs to see where improvement could be made versus a professional driver.

Fantastic experience...

Once out on track it became apparent that the conditions were far from perfect with the track being extremely greasy and slippery despite the car having ABS and tractions control. However I go my head down and made the most of the opportunity to learn and experience the car. With each lap I became more and more confident with the car, which was extremely difference from the Porsche. The difficulty I faced was that the track was in between wet tyres and dry ones, but the slicks weren’t and option, this meant that the wets were over heating and sliding around more limiting my ability to improve my lap time. Driving the car was a fantastic experience and I was able to come away with a huge amount of knowledge of a GT3 car and its characterises compared to the Porsche.
