Morgan 4/4

Cadwell was the first race for my new Class A Morgan, this time it was a Morgan 4/4 with a 2.5l Duratec engine, which is very different from the V8.

Temperamental Mechanical Issues

Qualifying was plagued with two red flags limiting the amount of running during the session. Once the first red flag came in I was finishing the out lap where I had a clutch problem going into the bottom of the mountain. This meant that I had only completed three laps and neither was very good, however I still managed P5. As the car is a new build I was unfazed as temperamental mechanical issues as always going to happen.

Oil

This time the race was a standing start and I knew that the car would be better that any other car on the grid even those in the same class as me. Off the start I was able to take four positions in the space of 100 meters, confirming the strength of the car off the start line. As the race progressed I couldn’t understand why my feet were sliding around on the pedals then realised that there was a lot of oil in the foot well. Due to this I slowed and went down to third position, as with the close proximity of the circuit to the barriers I didn’t want to slip of the pedals and end up in the wall. Despite this I was running close to the front two holding fastest lap until the very last lap of the race. But with back markers in the way who proved very difficult to pass I finished P3 and 16 seconds off the lead. Rockingham is next and I’m keen to show the further speed of the new car.
